Sorry for such delay, just now got to my pc. Must be clumsy stuff this phrase, apologies
So I just wanted to talk about superstition for everything that is left last - last candy in a bag, apple in a basket that we meant to eat. And noticed that people always tend to leave smth (something) that is last, even though if it's a very yum piece, like cake or smth. And it's sort of bad luck to have it, if it's very last. Very frustrating for me, sometimes as I am kind of greedy..
P.S. Enjoyed reading the whole thing

Perhaps people leave the last thing out of politeness? We are british (well, many of us) and I know I was brought up not to have the last piece in case someone else wanted it...
... Especially when it belongs to someone else!
There's quite complicated etiquette around having last bits or things, isnt there?

That is why I married Mr Smith so that I would become a Smith and could take the last of anything without feeling the least guilt.
