Of course I have, and I've posted as much elsewhere. The "reason" we're here is described by a chain of pure causality that stretches back billions of years. That's nowhere near as funny, however, as a brief discourse on the sweaty details that make it so interesting while we're here

I'm not sure I've seen any such definition yet, I don't think anyone has got that far. Even Pinker seems to skirt around the subject at the moment.
Personally, I find any attempt to describe consciousness as some kind of seperate "stuff", something conferred on us by an external entity (see how I'm struggling to avoid the "G word" - I don't want to get into that) as profoundly defeatist and, in some ways, offensive; a failure. This is just delegation of the unknown.
