The danube never meets the ringstrasse, but best icecream is told to be sold on schwedenplatz beside the danube-channel and if you are there on the evening, dont miss to go down to the channel and walk upstream until you find yourself in front of a club called flex, which is one of the official places for viennese subcultures and has some fine urban feeling.
