actually the list has almost no relevance to what we actually have made. Basicallyt you make whatever you want, whether its on the list or not. The list is just for ideas.

Well here's another idea I already had once then. The smiley (icon really) is a partially melted and on fire or exploding radio-phone.

I was working on test software and programming of some military spec radios at the time. You probably know how phasers are always being set on overload in StarTrek. Well these were a bit like that. If you got it wrong they could apparently be set in a mode where they overheated and effectively self-destructed. It was *not* intended as a feature though. Merely something which other test people had noted. So I thought the icon was appropriate for one of my bits of software. Of course the version for public viewing and final delivery to the client just had a normal radio icon. I never did have one of them explode at me though. So I must have been doing something right while finding the bugs and missing features in the pre-programmed bit of the phone software (in hardware).

You didn't post an idea...

1. A mixture of: (a) squared paper; (b) PaintShop Pro and other commercial stuff; (c) my own software; (d) my own hand coding of HTML. Of these, (a) can be skipped unless going straight to (d) but (b) is necessary for (c).

2. You can: (a) buy/make this; (b) buy that or other things commercially if you don't have primitive bitmap software included with your PC; (c) get it from the "obvious" place; (d) put significant effort into it.

3. That's the question I was asking - ie should I just post the HTML/GuideML code somewhere official round here or am I supposed to start my own cave page. I'm probably going to start more smiley pages shortly any way but this isn't one I particularly wanted myself.

hmm... well if you want to post a smiley's code then you post it on its own thread on the smiley page.

I don't have paintshop, don't know html, and can't program. much.

I don't know. I don't really want to campaign for more violent emoticons. I'm willing to help people with artwork though.

That was partly the reason for suggesting the towers!

I'm not keen on violence. So I wouldn't be wanting to use the smileys myself and it doesn't make much sense to campaign for them activley compared with other things. On the other hand I don't have a problem with weapons themselves or with people using smileys instead of real weapons - especially since this is likely to be in fun on h2g2. So I'm vaguely supportive without having a personal interest.

I told you to look for the software via the obvious route (obvious given that it is my software and for the use of h2g2 people) ...
