"The Rev. Gerald Horan, superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Orange, noted that the position of the objecting parents would lead to a "quagmire":
If the school barred gay parents from enrolling their children, they would also have to ban children of parents who violate other church teachings, including those who are divorced, use birth control or weren't married in the church, he said.
And they wouldn't be able to enroll Protestant children."
The blog owner added this pithy comment: "The parents and RCF would appear to have forgotten that Catholic schools are intended to be places of evangelization."

Maybe it's the best school locally, or maybe there aren't any other gay parents locally.

It quite likely is the best school available.
We have notoriously HORRIBLE public schools out here (anyone remember the Ebonics debate?) and a lot of the time the only viable alternative is to send your children to a religious school. It's a shame, but at least the children can get a good education.

The children are Catholic and, while there has in the past been a problem with priests and nuns dealing with children, Catholic schools have, generally, a better curriculum than public schools.
Teaches in Catholic schools, these days, are rarely priests or nuns, anyway.
The point is moot, the children have every right, as Catholics, to be raised as Catholic and go to a Catholic school, whether these throwbacks like it or not. I rarely think of the Catholic Church as being "forward thinking" but, in this case, I say they are doing the right thing in not kicking the children out.
Oddly (and someone can correct me on this) I don't recall anything in the Bible about condemning the childern for the perceived "sins" of their parents.
I do, however, recall something about "casting the first stone" and "suffering the children to come unto Jesus".... Funny how Jesus seemed to know more about being a Christian than most people who claim to be Christians. WWJD? I doubt he would have kicked the children out of school, myself.

My mother actually taught at a Catholic school for about 8 years and she is (was) a divorced single mother of two. Definitely not a nun.
And while there has been much made of the child-molesting priets, it is not something that every single child who comes into contact with any priest should have to worry about. I've known many priests throughout the years who have been very good people. It's just that, as in ANY group of people, there are some good and some bad...

Plus the fact that for a long time some people in positions of authority saw fit to either 'forgive' the priests and let them evade punishment, or to turn a blind eye to such an extent that abuse could continue.
I suspect that if there hadn't been denial and cover-up, people wouldn't have blamed the Church as a body, but just the individuals concerned.

They're still at it:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4215427.stm
"A University of Illinois team, which has screened the entire human genome, say there is no one 'gay' gene. "
Although this quote does seem more sensible than some!
"Sexual orientation is a complex trait. There is no one 'gay' gene.
Our best guess is that multiple genes, potentially interacting with environmental influences, explain differences in sexual orientation."
So basically, nothing new to anyone with a bit of knowledge/brains anyway.
