Madeleine McCann - the elephant in the room

"The way I would have travelled is at least 200 yards, then up however many flights of stairs.
Every 15 minutes."
How did you find the time to eat your tea?

I've been talking about this with guys in the office this week (they spent one day in London, came back and asked if Madeline or her parents were really famous before her disappearance- they can't believe the amount of publicity)
Anyhow. Everyone, without exception, is asking: why is there no comment about them not using the babysitting service?
(and I am pleased to note that by changing one word, my modded post is back up. to the feedback team for that)

gah
from what I could gather the mothers were objecting to use of the word "snatched" in the voiceover. i think if the voiceover had merely said that Madeline was missing it would have been ok for them.

"Senior detectives have told prosecutors they believe Madeleine McCann was killed accidentally in her holiday flat."
Can we Yikes the Daily Mirror and the Portuguese Police? I mean, that's tantamount to saying one of the saintly guardians of that poor little angel may have done it, and that's the most offensive thing in the world!!

Oh come on SWL, it doesn't take much imagination to think up how someone might be killed accidentally. Call it manslaughter if that helps, but it might not even be that.

Are you aware of the Lindy Chamberlain case (Australia in the 1970s)? She went to prison initially because people refused to belief that a dingo could take a baby from a tent. The police also screwed up the investigation. A long time later (years) she was released having been found not guilty.
It's an interesting case about how public perception and media fervour combined with police idiocy and/or corruption can render an innocent person guilty.

Psycorp, I did post a couple of examples, generic ones I thought, but they've been removed. You'll have to think for yourself now

According to Feedback, mine should be back, but isn't. Seeing as it was gone after two weeks, I guess it was yikesed recently.

They're suing a paper for suggesting they might not be the victims in this case. Wonder if they're going to come knocking on my door??

'Last week, Mr McCann asked the media to end the constant speculation about his daughter's whereabouts.
He said there had been "huge amounts written with no substance" and that it was not necessary to "bombard people on a daily basis" with Madeleine's image. '
Changed his tune since the finger of blame started moving away from 'random local nutter'.
