as I said Horatio looks like Ron Weasley will be in 30 years, but his voice... ohhhhhhhhhhh!

Vaguely back on topic:
When driving back from Oxfordshire yesterday we stopped at a service station. In the rather swanky Bently next to us, window wound right down, no parents in sight, was a small boy sound asleep. We were there for over ten minutes and there was no sign on any adults anywhere.
I'm not sure why I didn't take the number plate and report it to the police.

So's mine! Maybe we're not as censored as we thought?

OK, bizarrely, having complimented the site staff for their sensible decision to reinstate the top post, TWO MINUTES after I do so, it's hidden again.
Is consistency too much to ask for?

Obviously yes. Something's not right about all this.

That's weird. Somebody must have yikesed it. And what else did SoRB say then that that post is hidden also?

Oh dear, and I will not find out why for a couple of weeks as I can;t get to my e-mail account.
Probably it will be the catch all reason of 'trying to stir up trouble' or whatever the reason is.
I made a couple of comments about their faith...but not their religious faith.
And also a comment about them talking about their pain and what the pain their daughter hopefully did not suffer.
I also preempted the yikseing by saying I had made the posting as vanilla as I could.
At least, alot of what I said has come out in other threads.
I would also suggest people listen to last weeks edition of 'The Message' from Radio 4 as this case and 'media manipulation' etc is discussed quite forcefully.

SoRB expressed some sympathy for the girl and little hope as to her fate. Also, he expressed quite vividly where the responsibilities lay.

And again... I wonder who's hanging round just to try and prevent this conversation.

Yes, this is one of those times when 'feelings' and political correctness gets in the way of adult conversation.
It is why everyone has to walk on eggshells as everytime some one thinks something might be offensive to someone else the bar of unacceptability is raised for the next time even if it is nonsense.
It is this 'just in case' factor that is killing logical, honest conversation to be replaced with knee-jerk reactionary feelings.

I can;t actually remember what I wrote that has been hidden. I certainly wasn't reactionary.
Looks like can't be adult on this subject.
It would be nice if the mods actually posted a reason on this thread to explain what boundaries they have decided to impose on us when discussing this. It might actually allow us to discuss it sensibly without having whole posts hidden for possibly a few lines within it.
Some two way conversation please mods...it is going to make your life easier as you will not need to waste time hiding posts.
Any chance of treating us like adults of is this the annual 'Treat 'em like kids and see how many waltz off site in a huff' game?

"Any chance of treating us like adults of is this the annual 'Treat 'em like kids and see how many waltz off site in a huff' game?"
Ooh, I always side with the mods in that game. Not this time however, as all this emotional knee-jerking is stagnating adult debate.

Interesting thread.
It tells me that for the most part you lot ie the usual suspects a lique of vociferous debaters, who mgiht not always like each other, but are a clique none the less arent in tune with the current affairs zeitgeist. We arent taken in by the smoke and mirrors or the emperors new clothes of the tabloid media but cantignore it either.
The story is a soap opera or mystery in ine with "Lost" there may not be a statisfactory conclusion on the horizon but that is not what's required. What the media and the people who subscribe o it want is for things to happen that dont normally happen.
My sister as left alone by my mom who was across the road playing bingo, she found some matches and started a fire, luckily someone else was in the house and raised the alarm. If they hadnt come back for something she had forgotten my aunt would not be a hero to our family and our family would be smaller than it is. No surprises for guessing if any small children in my family were ever left home alone again.
Normally nothing happens or like my family you have a lucky near miss and put it down to experience. The McCanns' story is pure drama. It has grief, bad guys, mystery....and a sneaking suspicion that there might just be a twist in the tale somwhere along the line.
Recently you lot have mentioned comparisons between the story and CSI Miami. Looking at the way the local plods have got to grips withthe case Crime Scene Incompotence might be a more appropriate spin on those initials.
This story does leave a lot of questions hanging but it answers a few questions too.
It tells us that a mothers love is not all its cracked up to be.
Parents dont always know what's best for their children.
Unusual sexual prctice amongst adults is no proof of redatory attitudes towards children.
If you spin it right the audience is more interested in the story of photgenic victims than they are in the stories of people who they are less interested in looking at.
one love
