Any Romanians out there?

I'm planning a work experience thing in Bucharest next year, and would like to know at least a few basics of the language... I can sort of read it, because I know some French and Spanish, but don't really know anything besides hello and thank you smiley - laugh

Hi there !
Glad to see you're interested in my language!
Mee too, I'm interested in yours!

Well, before giving you any 'homework' to do, I'd be happy to know more about you and your work experience thing in Bucharest.
Actually, I'm a Romanian native speaker, I've been living in Paris for almost 6 years now and I am an English teacher. Can you see the picture? smiley - winkeye
More next time, now it's your turn!

Pe curĂ¢nd ! (EN: See / read you soon!)

Cristina

The internship never happened, due to illness smiley - blue But I'm still considering it smiley - laugh

I'm a native speaker in German, English, and Dutch, and (probably) going to Scandinavia or maybe Estonia for my Master's, so if you're interested in any of those... smiley - winkeye

In his book The Power of Babel, John McWhorter calls Romanian "the twisted sister" of the romance family.

Besides Romansch, it's basically the only surviving form of Latin! So it seems to me that the others are more twisted... smiley - winkeye

Ah, but it's part of the Balkan Sprachsbund (sp?).

This is where a number of languages from different families are spoken in the same area and influence each other's grammar. Romanian, for example, takes articles after the noun, instead of before.
