*droid fires three sharp lazer shots at Ancha's head*

*The droids begin firing. Ancha's 'saber swings up then flicks back, blocking and deflecting the first and second shots. As he blocks the second shot he sways to the right and the third shot zips by him harmlessly.

*He closes his eyes and opens his mind. He opens his eyes as the droids fire.*
*This time the laser shots seem to be coming much more slowly. Time seems to have slowed everything around him, but his own actions are unaffected.*
*This time he has plenty of time to block and deflect all three shots.*
*He retakes his defensive stance*

Well done. I am much impressed by your fast learning
*moves the hovercraft slightly lower down*
*puts droid on a faster setting*
*droid fires 5 lazer shots in quick succession*

*Again time seems to slow. He blocks the first three shots but has to dodge the fourth. He manages to just nick the fifth shot as it zips past him.*
Master, Time outside of me seems to slow when I defend against these shots. Can I learn to control how much it slows?

Yes, you may....
Understand first how you make it slow. Do you wish to try the droid again, at a lower setting<?>

Master, it would seem likely that time does not actually slow down.
If it did I would also slow down since I am just another being existing within Time and Space.
I would deduce, therefore, that since time is not slowing down, I must be speeding up.
I know I can feel the Force within me when the effect happens, so it is reasonable to assume that I am using the Force to speed up my actions. So to control the effect, I must learn more subtle control of the Force. Is this correct, Master?

Hmmm....
*He experiments with drawing on the Force until he feels he can tap it at different levels.*
OK, lets try that last exercise again.
*Takes up defensive position and opens his mind to the Force.*
*To droid* Activate. Repeat exercise.
*The droid fires. Again, Ancha blocks the first three shots but has to dodge the other two.*
Repeat.
*Droid fires. He feels the Force more strongly. Blocks four.*
Repeat.
*Droid fires. He draws a little more on the Force. Blocks four again but almost gets the fifth.*
Repeat.
*Droid fires. Blocks four easily. Misses fifth.*
*With each repeat of the exercise, Ancha can feel more control of the Force and, little by little, his reactions get quicker. After several more attempts he finally blocks all five laser shots. He continues to practise until he can block the shots every time.*
*He continues practising for several hours, gradually upping the number of shots and rate of fire. Eventually he reaches a level where he can block fifteen shots at the droid's highest rate of fire.*
*He rests.*

*Thinks that it would probably be a good idea to have someone to practise with........ but never seems to be on-line when anyone else is!.*

I feel you will soon be ready for your trials, but I think you need more combat training. Do you wish to parry with me<?>
