Ahhhh the Any Key

Post 1

Now being old enough to remember ZX basic my search for the any key has been both long and fruitless. My first computer was taken back to the shop as mis-manufactured. The replacement was the same. I found this had no effect on my playing of Manic Miner and Horace goes Skiing so for a while gave up the search. Later when first having a go on a windows machine the problem reared its ugly head again. I under the mis apprehension that it was a fault with all U.K keyboards ordered an american one. This also proved to have a missing button.

So I tried another track: Household keys. I thought that in the rush to constantly update (read sell) our version of windows to provide important and advanced (read expensive and unrequired) uses for a computer the great Mr Gates had missed the word with from the press any key request. So I tried yales, chubbs, deadlocks, cycle locks and padlocks to no avail.Still the solution eluded me.

My final conclusion is thus, we must customise our keyboards, create our own "any" key. I have done so, the effect is subtly different, yet enlightening. The button does nothing.....other than obscure much of the microsoft logo.

Peace be unto all, even Bill.
