Dear John and Marie Christine, et al,

Writing to you from Golden Bay, South Island, New Zealand, where we live. By means of intro, my partner and I are wildlife photographers/authors and have outfitted our own 43ft steel yacht for expeditioning in the Southern Ocean with particular focus on albatross. So far we have photographed about 2/3 of the world's albatross species and are planning to produce a large format book about these birds, their habitat, their 'magic' and their plight. Our first private expedition was four months in the NZ subantarctic islands last summer.

We're most interested in your dedication to this cause and would be keen to catch up during your passage through New Zealand - perhaps we could sail to Wellington to meet, since it's only a couple of days sail from here. Is this a possibility? Do you know when/how long you might be in port?

Whether or not we meet, we wish you all the very best on your venture and would like to express our admiration and praise for championing the future of these magnificent creatures and the oceanic environment they stand for and depend upon. Regards,

Tui De Roy and Mark Jones

Hi, Tui and Mark,
I was very interested in what you are doing and clicked on your h2g2 space in the hope of finding out more about your efforts. Please could you find time to update your personal space. A journal of your exploits would be very interesting.

Hello again Tui and Roy

This note has just been through by John and MC ...

Thanksalotty for your good wishes. Injured ribs, worklist and crew dispersion in Wellington will not allow free time. All the very best for your own Albatross endeavor. Our present independent judgment is that there may be some "Green Wash" but really fishing is about big money and birds don't count. But do call in if you are around.

Into the mist...

John and MC
