Who is Harry Potter?

You will have to help me on this one, I'm afraid.

There seems to be some sort of literary connection, is it Beatrix Potter's son perhaps?

Lighbulbs & fans, hmm. If the fans in question are electric, I suppose I can think along those lines, I've had problems obtaining suitable fans myself in the past.Sorted now though.

As for the screw component; I am told it is ill-advised; broken glass & all that kind of thing. Anyway, what about the bayonet brigade?

Terri,

It seems your powers of deduction are working overdrive. Thank you! My only fear however, is that you seem no closer to working out a response/answer to the riddle. I sincerely hope it it doesn't weigh you down with unnecessary thinking (believe me ANY thinking on this topic is unnecessarysmiley - winkeye)

The answer to YOUR question/subject heading is much on my mind as well, though probably not in the way that you mean.smiley - smiley

As far as I know, Harry Potter was named Harry Potter because when JK Rowling was young, she lived in a street with some Potter kids. She always thought it was a really cool name, so she decided to call her character "Potter". I don't know where Harry comes from. Possibly the same root- she just likes the name, and it has a nice flow to it.

I heard that JKR was a fan of the Ipcress File, where they chose 'Harry' as the name of the star (he wasn't named in the books) because it was 'really normal', and that's what she wanted her star to be.

How many Harry Potter fans does it take to change a lightbulb?
One, but only if the last one's been out for three years.smiley - biggrin

It is funny, isn't it? Until this book, Harry was popular and quite clever. You can't have your parents killed and be the star of a book like that. You have to be pale, and always ill, and predict people's deaths.
