Gee that's tough all of 29C, you do realise in some parts of 'Oz' (that big brown bit in the southern hemisphere) we're still in long sleeves at that temperature....
Now a constant 49C is what we call hot...
However I must confess that most of us would turn blue and die if we had to endure winters like you get.

Hi there Pond_Rat
Someone has actually read my editorial!
Indeed. Having chatted for some time now with quite a few of our 'upside-down' friends I am aware just how hot it gets for you all.
As the wonderful Wowbagger is always quick to point out in his excellent cartoons, we in the upper end of the Northern Hemisphere barely scratch the surface of 'hot'.
It must be my northern upbringing which reduces me to sweaty blob when the sun deigns to shine for more than 3 days in a row. Also, as you noted, the change from -10+ to +30+ in the space of a few weeks takes some getting used to.
At least here in flatland we do get plenty of breeze to reduce the heat levels outside the house. A brisk bicycle ride can usually sort out a case of over-heating.

Hello there to Blighty, Oz and everywhere in between. That's where I am, in between. I'm writing from the Persian Gulf where a constant 49C is norm for this time of the year and you can throw in an extra few degrees occasionally. It's not really mere heat but a combination of temperature and high humidity that can really sap/zap/debilitate/marmelize (choose one or a mix to suit you).
Anyway, AC comes to the rescue at this time of year.
Coming from the UK I do recall bone numbingly damp winters, and long grey periods (in any season) with low clouds. Can drive you up a ferret's leg (if you're small enough/he's big enough).
Someone recently quoted Billy Conolley saying something about British weather, 'It's not a question of the weather, it's a matter of wearing the right clothes for the day'. Comments?
