Author: Ebert - U221196

Hi all.

Here’s a subject that I couldn’t find on the guide, so I researched and wrote about it.

I feel that it is finished. There is a lot of information available, but most of it is in terms that only expert botanists can understand, so I tried to word it in a way everyone can understand.

Please let me know if there is any way I can improve this. Thanks.

Hello Ebert smiley - smiley

I really like this entry of yours, as they're one of my favourite succulents. Also, I've just written a similar entry myself about looking after cacti. The growing conditions for cacti and jade plants are much the same.

Here are a few ideas and mis-spellings you may want to incorporate or take care of in your entry.

I believe that full name for the jade plant is Crassula Ovata.

When you say that they can grow up to 10' tall, is that in the wild or in a pot? I've never seen one that big which is being grown as a houseplant, and even the ones I saw being grown outdoors in California weren't quite that tall.

"curse soil" Did you mean 'course soil' there?

"red?ish" - reddish

"accurse" - occurs

This is a very good entry Ebert, and I think it will need very little work to get it recommended by one of the Scouts smiley - ok

If you want to link the 'Cacti' entry, it's currently pending as 'recommended' and is now being edited and should have completed the process by the time your entry is picked and edited (you do know that in an edited entry you can only link to other edited entries, right?).

The link is here A1075646smiley - spacesmiley - smiley

Gosho – Thanks. You are a star. No matter how many times I read something and reread something, spelling mistakes always seem to seep through. They are like aphids. Everything’s going fine, then suddenly you look at your favorite plant and these little green/white/other bugs are all over it.

I don’t know if 10’ high is in wild or in a pot. All the wonderful books I’ve read were not very forth coming as to which. Recently I’ve seen a potted Jade that was at least 8’ tall if it was an inch.

Do you know any other solutions for a sagging Jade? I acquired one about 4’ wide and 3’ tall this week and the stems were growing downward in a sweeping fashion, like a swing. It doesn’t seem to be too have been kept too wet or too dry. It just seems too heavy. Also the leaves are not as plump as most jade plants I’ve seen. I’m about to give it a massive pruning, however I was wondering if something is wrong with it.

Gosho – you posted while I was still writing. Cool.

-‘you do know that in an edited entry you can only link to other edited entries, right?’
I didn’t know this. What’s the easiest way to tell when a entry has been edited? Does the number change?

Thanks again for your advice.

If you like at the top right hand corner of an entry you'll find the data box - that's the bit which tells you who wrote it and when, and who (if anyone) edited it. It'll say so if it's an edited entry (some entries can *look* like they're edited because they say 'Written by...' and 'Edited by...', but it'll only say 'Edited' directly underneath the entry ID if it's in the EG.

This one's edited A1061380
So is this one A890589
But this one isn't A1042903
And neither is this one

All clear now? smiley - tongueout

You will be when you've been here for almost three years, as I have smiley - smiley

And there are people here who know an awful lot more about it than I do, many of whom have taken much less than three years to acquire their knowledge.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
