I still collect and read fairy tales. I found them very helpful to me as a child. Especially the scary ones....they were a comfort in a strange informing way. There were always transformations, love the fables.
I hate scary movies. Too visual. Too much info, not enough left to the imagination.

I hate horror and gore, if I see something on the tv its like I am seeing it in real life, I can't separate the two. So a murder on tv is like watching a murder in front of me. I have desensitized myself a little, but not enough to watch things like 'scary movie', and am I really missing anything anyway?!
Some of the fairy tales I would have thought are far from comforting, some are downright nasty!

Yes nasty is right, but so were the people around me!
That made it more of "normal" happening, possibilty.
Hansel and Gretal especially scared me!
Many transplant or transform the main character in a good way.

I have never watched blood and guts for entertainment either.
I worked around it, medical field and did well.
I do not understand it as entertainment, but I suppose it is something like myself and the fairy tales, only for older people.

'only for older people'! Thats funny! Apparently it can be a release, still don't get it though.
