Today Queen Elizabeth II sends out a congratulatory telemessage to one of the longest lived stars of the silver screen. Yes today Leslie Townes Hope, better known as Bob, turns 100. This despite his death being announce in the US Congress 8 years ago. He, like Mark Twain before him, has lived to see the response to his own demise.

Moved to States aged four. Started on vaudeville stages.
Over eighty movies since 1930s.
Most famously the 'Road' movies with fellow golfer Bing Crosby.
Has four honorary Oscars1 as well as being occasional host.
Set up golfing charity events.
