h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Ok - here goes - a small select band of the H2G2 cogniscenti are meeting to celebrate daSilva's "over-the-hill"edness on his birthday - Sunday, 2nd November (yes, I know it's rather soon)

As we'll (almost) be in town anyway and could get there about 7pm - who's up for full-blown-mini-meet, beers (or whatevers), somewhere along broadstreetish perhaps, finishing the evening off with a curry if we can find one to squeeze us all in?

How does that sound...hmmmn?

If she remembers she's one of the ones coming to the afternoon's activities anyway!

So everyone knows who's doing what:

The plan is, as a birthday treat me, Aesculpius, Vip & Z are off to watch Matrix: Reloaded at the Imax in Millenium Point which'll bring us up to 7pm(ish) and I was thinking drinks and foodage in town after that for all those who care to join us...

Am I allowed to wonder into the film as well? I find it's a lot easier to follow Vip places - saves me having to think too much :P

Well, you'll have to get your own ticket and there'll be no chance of getting one next to us now (I got ours a week a go - it's all pre-booked, y'see) but feel free to be in the same cinema

While Vip told me about this meet more than a week ago she neglected this little detail. Please excuse me while I wonder down the corridor and unleash some firey death.

Well, the tickets are rather expensive and my job doesn't pay well enough to buy them for you all

And I was serious - if there are tickets still available (I got them as soon as I could, gonna be a of a show!), feel free to join us (Makes finding the people for the post film bash a bit easier if more of us are there!)

Whats so special about this show? Why so expensive? Where can I buy tickets? And why did Vip go to sleep before I got a chance to unleash some firey death?

Ach well, I'll try to attend. We'll just have to see.

It's at the IMAX - the screen's about 50ft high, totally new edit (requires different cameras), improved sound etc, etc...

Oh and Vip couldn't log in earlier - she wanted to know if you bought a ticket for her, because she didn't know she needed one
(Or its just a ruse to prevent firey death)

I have already purchased the tickets for the original 4 (Including you, Vip! ) and we're in seats K-16 thru K-19 to use American parlance (hey, I just got in from work and haven't switched my inbuild dictionary back to UK mode yet, m'k?)

I thought you'd set the date for the 8th then (that's the date for the Oxford meet). Thank heavens for that.

You seem to have a seat named after a bomber and the IMAX online purchasing is...well...really shitty. Still, I'll see what I can do if I ever remeber to ring during reasonable hours.

*lol* I just went there - far easier and the girl in the ticket office was sooooo cute


And Vip, don't panic unless you're 4 hours away - the show starts at 4 (we need to get ther well in time though as THEY DON'T ALLOW PEOPLE IN ONCE IT'S STARTED)



But, as we're all geeks together we'll probably be there at half one

I'll be in town (probably in the Briar Rose, actually) from about half twelve, quarter to one.

Besides I went on the phones today and booked a ticket. Seat K-20. I win

I do have to pick up my ticket though so we'll need to get there 1/2 hour in advance. That means get organised Vip!
