The inner asteroid field averages 1 asteroid per ten cubic meters, all of them flying erratically around at speeds well above that of sound, though sound is nonexistant in a vacuum. The massive chunks of nickle, iron, and granite are threatening to even the most heavily armed and armored craft. What few warning systems are pressent in this part of the asteroid field are concealed withing the more massive, almost moonish asteroids.
