Hi, Doctor Montague!

Another really worthwhile entry - you manage to make the note designs sound *interesting* which, in the absence of any pictures, is quite a feat!

Two points that struck me - first, you give some idea of the exchange rate of the BD compared to Sterling/Euro/Dollars? I know this is liable to change, but some idea of the value would be helpful.

You mention independence in 1971 - independence from whom? I know you expalin that in the linked full entry on Bahrain, but a mention here might help. Did they use sterling up to independence, or some kind of British dinars?

smiley - cheers

Azara, thanks for the input. With your blessing, I shall update in response to your specific points as follows:

Azara: "Two points that struck me - first, you give some idea of the exchange rate of the BD compared to Sterling/Euro/Dollars? I know this is liable to change, but some idea of the value would be helpful."

DMT: For information, at the time of writing the Bahraini Dinar is more or less pegged to the greenback, with BD1 worth around US$2.65. With exchange rate fluctuations, that makes the Bahraini Dinar worth between UKP1.60 and two quid.

Azara: "You mention independence in 1971 - independence from whom? I know you explain that in the linked full entry on Bahrain, but a mention here might help. Did they use sterling up to independence, or some kind of British dinars?"

DMT: Issue and circulation of coins and banknotes falls under the jurisdiction of The Bahrain Monetary Agency which was established in 1973. Until 1959, the states of the Arabian Gulf had traded freely in Indian Rupees. However, in 1959, the Gulf rupee, backed by the Indian Government was introduced in the Gulf, and was used until 11th October 1965 when the first Bahraini Dinars came into circulation under the jurisdiction of the Bahrain Currency Board, (Majlis Naqd al-Bahrain</I&gtsmiley - winkeye. The Bahrain Currency Board was replaced by the more powerful governing body, the Bahrain Monetary Agency in 1973, two years after Bahrain's proclamation of independence from the United Kingdom.

Hi Dr Trout!

It's not a very exciting entry, but is very well written and should get picked eventually.

Might it be worth pointing out that the Dinar is a very large unit of currency? I believe that a Dinar is worth more than just about any other unit of currency, but you can check that.

You should include the character for a half when you say 221/2. I though it meant two hundred and twenty-one or twenty-two degrees at first.

221/2 is what I've done.

I know it's not very exciting, but I am developing a penchant for the super-sec.

Very nice entry...

My only question is about the title - 'Money In' or 'Money of'?

With prepositions, it's always a matter of personal taste I reckon.

But like I said, very nice DMT!
