Elections: Writing to Councillors
Otto Fisch ("Stop analysing Strava.... and cut your hedge") Started conversation Apr 5, 2006
At the last local elections I changed a voting habit of a lifetime and voted for the candidates who were most visible in the ward and who sent the least odious and cretinous party literature, rather than voting for the party I always support at general elections.
Since then, one of my local councillors was on the plannning committee of the local council which took a very strange decision (against the advice of planning officers) and rejected a building proposal from my employers which would have made my working life much more pleasant.
So I contacted my councillor via email to ask how she voted, and her opinions on the proposal. This was a couple of weeks ago, and I have yet to receive a reply. I know that councillors get expenses and allowances, but not salaries, but I would have expected a response before now. How long is it reasonable to wait for a response from an elected representative?

No response, no minutes on the borough council website. How odd....
I'm hoping this can be resolved before we're treated to the unedifying spectacle of one of the borough's biggest employers suing the council.
Oh well. At least I'll have something else to talk about other than the local income tax when my friendly neighbourhood canvasser comes to visit.
