having compared priced for trains and flights etc.. i have found out (shockingly) that flying down is much cheaper, but this poses a new problem:
what's the best (i.e. cheepest, never exceeding R12) way to get from London Stansted to the meet.

next thing, any one reccomend somewhere to stay (again cheep on the night between 28th and 29th)where i would be able to get to London Stansted by 8:00 am?

many thanks

Stansted - Liverpool Street trains are reasonably regular, I believe.smiley - ok
As for somewhere cheap, someone should be able to suggest something. The Europa seems to be favoured by the European contingent, though Whisky says he found something dirt cheap last time round, you could try asking him...

It's worth checking the Stansted train, they often replace is with a bus service whenever they fancy it.

If it is a bus then it will take about 90 mins to Liverpool street, max. Prices I don't know, but you should be able to get that info from South east Trains.

I didn't think the bus thing was that bad - its normally a well in adavance scheduled thing for maintenance and the like.

check the site http:\\www.wagn.co.uk

It has the timetables, news of engineering works and just before you go, check the wagn live section to see what sort of delays to expect

Abi had to get a bus when she went a week or so again - and it hadn't been advertised on the website.

Right, a quick sniff around suggests that you shouldn't have any trouble on the Friday/Saturday, but that it'll be buses for WAGN/Stanstead services on the Sunday. On a related note, Hammersmith and City, Metropolitan and Circle line LU services pretty much aren't all that weekend.

No problem smiley - ok One of the results of working around here is you get into the habit of checking these things smiley - winkeye

There are buses to replace the LU services, but then there's London buses anyway smiley - erm

smiley - erm on second thoughts it's probably best to pay just that bit more and come down from newcastle with GNER on the train. then just walk or get a taxi/tube from kings X, rather than an extra 90 min of london traffic.

thanks for the info everyone.
