Well, in your first para you COULD say s'thing like,

'The slang term 'lemon' is was also used originally to refer to a motor car that, when purchased either new or used, was found to have numerous defects which were not apparent at the time of purchase. By extension, the term has become used to apply to which is unfit for its purpose. The reson for this use is that, liker its fruity counterpart, the experience leaves a sour taste in the mouth'.

In 1593 Admiral Sir Richard Hawkins cured an entire ship's company of scurvy by making them all drink lemon juice. This was apparently forgotten until, in 1747, James Linfd proved experimentally that ornages and lemons cured scurvy, but various other things (cider, vinegat etc) did not. Capt. Cook, dureing his round the world voyage of 1773-76 acted on Lind's advice and supplied oranges, lemons and pickled cabbage to his men. Of 118 men who commenced this voyage, only one man died from disease - and it wasn't scurvy.

I think it's the way you've done it

The bit about the motor car I would put as the last sentence/para of the intro so that it's 'mentioned then forgotten'. Also, there are a load of spelling errors/typos in this para.

Uner pests and diseases, some of your bullet points start with capitals and some don't. Make it consistent by starting all with capitals.(Also I think that you should give a little more info e.g.Are they all fungus diseases? Also, why are there two groups, are one group significantly more prevalent than the other?

Personally, I would be tempted to use a sub-header for 'Home Canning'
