Are they still lighting it at night?

As the title says, do they still light the bridge at night?
I have to say it is a great sight, I know I'm nearly home when I see it (Fife boy)

Wow! I didn't expect to have anyone comment on this so soon. I just put it up and as it says I've still got quite a lot to do to it.
It was just that I couldn't believe that there wasn't an entry for this!!!
As to whether they're still lighting it up - I think they are, but I haven't been down there for a while and I'd have to check, I wasn't going to mention it in the entry as it can change too easily and I'd rather the entry could stand for a while!

Just as a follow-up
I've been doing some checking for present day conditions and run across these sites:-
http://www.camvista.com/scotland/edinburgh/rail.php3
http://www.railscot.co.uk/Forth_Bridge_Railway/frame.htm
thought you might like to check them out, the first one seems to be down at this moment but links to others you might(?) appreciate and the piccies on the other might remind you of home (particularly the weather!)

Lol about the weather. That's one thing about living in the south east of England, the weather is so much better here.
Thanks for the reply and the heads up on the American football section.
Will see you around

Very nice piece of work.
Always a memorable trip across the bridge especially at night, and as the wifes from fife, it's a journey i've made a few times.
Good photo opportunities from the Sealife centre at Queensferry,as it's directly below the bridge, and gives you a good idea of the scale of the thing.

Thinking about it, it's hard to imagine a bad photo opportunity with a subject like this!
Probably my favourite is from the boat trip that runs in summer from the old ferry pier at the Hawes Inn in South Queensferry. That way you REALLY are directly below the bridge

Always fancied the ferry trip, and across to inchcolm, but always seem to get up there out of season.I've heard somewhere that anti-aircraft guns were mounted on the bridge during WW2,part of "fortress Forth".

Never heard of guns actually on the bridge, but there were (I believe) guns on some of the islands and at Rosyth. I also seem to remember seeing historic photos with barrage baloons from the islands.
By the way, the best cruises are the 'moonlight' ones with live jazz and the bar open. I seem to remember that you have to book them well in advance and hope like hell for good weather!
