Spell - chequers?

This entry is an excellent illustration of the widespread misunderstanding of spellcheckers. They are not there to correct spelling mistakes, as "comer", "execration", "wreak", "extant" and (my personal favourite in this crop) "sole" demonstrate only too well.
The only useful function of the spellchecker is to pick up typing errors, such as my own bugbear "teh" instead of "the". As long as you go on relying on them to correct your spelling in college work, you will continue to provide much unintentional amusement to your supervisors.
That's assuming that they can spell, of course, and don't rely on spellcheckers themselves....
