h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I was wandering around the pages, when I came across a banner for the X-Files...It's now in one of my guide entries under the title 'pictures', being a Buffy fan though I was wondering if there was a banner for Buffy, and if so, how do I do it.

There are quite a lot of images over on the TalkBuffy area: <./>/dna/cult/</.>. Also the communicate page occasionally features things like Buffy, eg:

If you could just tell me how you got those codes, then I could probably do it myself, because my friends want loads of other character pictures, like Willow and Spike.

I've made a few attempts, but I just cant seem to get to grips with it, what am I doing wrong?

I must just be dumb, I can't work this out, I've tried everything I know and it don't work...can I ask you a huge favour, could you get me a couple more images, ones of the other cast members, please.

I would appreciate it, it's just that I'm not so great on computer things.

I'm not sure what you are doing wrong - possibly not copying the whole address.

There are loads of images everywhere. Since you picked a Willow one here are a few small and large. They follow roughly the same format. You just change the numbers/names to see the others.

So also on dreamdate, there are sets of:

The directory number seems to be width in pixels (100 or 340) and the small versions also use this number at the end of the image name. The number immediately after the name typically runs from 1 to 9 for a set of images.

For this set, try buffy1, 2 etc up to 9:

Hi SEF, I'd like to thankyou again for all your help, I just have one question, I was reading a post by someone and it was suggested that having those images on a page maybe a copyright infringement, do you know if that's the case?

Given that the cult pages said stuff like telling you to email the picture to a friend, a copyright problem seems a bit unlikely. Some photos are things which people want to have promoted (fame and all that). I've just gone back to look at the pages. This dreamdate page says it will tell you how to put the pictures on your desktop:

So that's not a particularly convincing way of telling you not to touch those ones! The obvious thing beyond that which you might not be able to do is use them on your own external website.

So having them on my page shouldn't be a problem, cool .

Well I can hardly guarantee anything since they are not my images! However, the page really doesn't make any attempt to say you can't use them on BBCi pages and actually encourages some use of them *off* BBCi on a personal computer - which would be very odd if a "no use" copyright clause applied. I assume you'll be linking back to the cult pages anyway (which sometimes makes a difference as to whether you can use something). One other thing you shouldn't do is put *all* the images on a page. It is often OK with copyright to "quote" a small section of something but not the whole thing.

I already have a link on my page straight to talk Buffy and am only using one or two of them...but I'll probably add one or two more links, I have to do that on computer though, I've run out of memory on my digibox, it keeps eating my words.
