This is really useful!

Does it work in other software? If not, or you don't know, I'd suggest you change the title to something like the subtitle that you have, and add 'Creating' and 'Microsoft' ie - 'Creating Custom Dictionaries in Microsoft Word' so everyone knows that the entry is about.

thanks - it does work in all of the microsoft office suite - but it would mainly be used in word - so your comment was useful

Hiya, fellow researcher!

You may want to add a caveat to the entry.

Everytime you add to the Custom Dictionary, you slightly reduce its ability to spot misspelled words, because it now knows more 'correct' spelling for words.

E.G.: If I add the abbreviation len (for length), because I'm typing lot of formulas, the dictionary will not highlight len when I mean to type pen.

Just a thought.

Hi matgreener

You should probably mention that this will work for all Office programs, but do they all draw from the Word dictionaries or do dictionaries have to be added to each individual program that uses them?

For the sake of completeness you should also include FordsTowel's suggestion that this will reduce the effectiveness overall of the standard dictionary and how.

As a stand-alone guide entry, it does feel a bit short. While an explanation of the dictionary feature doesn't require additional explanation, are there any other little-known features of Word or Office that would merit inclusion, to expand the focus of the entry? Would you be interested in doing that, or are you happy with this just as it stands?

Seconded. I'll see if I can't figure out how to add it to the database.
