Thought I would point out this opportunity -- I'm not sure it's necessarily the right idea for this group, but thought it would be a good idea to at least make people aware of the option:

It's a nice idea, and having graphics on the page would certainly make it interesting. But...

One of the requirements is that your group be mentioned on the Community Choice page. Again, I realize that this is a public venue, and also that we're not an isolationist sort of group, we want anyone who needs it to join in and give and receive as much help and support as possible. But the nature of the survivors' group is still a bit different than say United Friends or Keepers or the Writers' Guild, etc. I still like the idea of keeping a semi-low profile, and of people who need the group being drawn to it by word of mouth. I'm happy to steer anyone I see who seems like they'd benefit from the group toward it, but I'm still not keen on being "advertised" on a major list of h2 groups. I still feel- and I know I'm being a bit reactive and paranoid, but it's the nature of the beast- that by touting the group in a very public way would be opening the door to some serious trolling. In a community the size of h2, there's going to be a few bad apples.

I've already experienced a run-in with an opinionated, ignorant tw*t here, though the person was sneaky enough to do it off-site where s/he couldn't be reported, and I'm not wired for that kind of abuse. Would fulfilling the requirements necessary to use this feature set the memebrs of the survivors' group up for that sort of crap? I think so. But like I say, I'm paranoid...

Do we have the option of designing our own graphics and submitting them for approval, then putting them in?

And again, though I'm sorry to change the subject, would anyone else here be interested in an MSN group where there would be more privacy, for when it's necessary?

I agree largely with Cindy -- that's why I had said above that I really wasn't sure it was the best route for this group. But, I still figured the rest of the group deserved to know it was a new option.

And no, there's no way for people (or groups) to submit their own graphics on h2g2.

I would feel more comfortable on a less public group, myself.

"I would feel more comfortable on a less public group, myself."

As would I. If there is enough interest from the rest of the group, I'll be happy to help set one up! Not that i'd abandon this group, as hopefully more and more people who need it will be drawn to it one way or another. But it's important for me, at least, to have some privacy and a level of trust which we can't quite get here.

I'm still grateful you pointed this out as an option, though, Mikey. Some of the others may feel differently. Thanks! smiley - hug

It's ok with me IF it can be private as far as posting.
I always get so much spam and mail related to signing up to those groups though. I'd prefer email when privacy is needed smiley - erm

There have been other times a strong majority has not wanted to enlarge or advertize when asked. I do not want to work at advertizing or drawing attention to us.
