A friend of mine was telling me about a colleague who, is not a trained librarian, but a library officer. A borrower had asked her for information about suttee. The woman misunderstood and thought she meant sushi.
The funny part is, suttee is the former Hindu custom of a widow throwing herself alive on to her husband's funeral pyre , and she'd sent her off to the cooking section!!
Very poor taste, but I thought it was funny.
