i believe there are in existence such things as micro towels, which are super absorbent but yet are only slightly larger than aforementioned hankerchiefs, and thus would (in an emergency) have a few extra uses than ordinary hankerchiefs when a full sized towel is not practical. tasks where volume of liquid absorbed is paramount yet, as you so accurately described, ones outfit or social environment prohibit a family sized, or larger, towel.

Oooo, do you know where to get one? I've seen Packtowels in REI catalogs, but they're too big, and thick, to fold up and keep in one's pocket. A microtowel could be a SRHD's new best friend, his old best friend being beer.

i can't guarantee anything- it is many years since i have seen one and their powers may have been overestimated by the rosy spectacles of youth, but i'll see what i can find!

of course i am. even carried a towel with me today... how hoopy am i!!?! but i've been carrying a hankerchief with me of and on for a few years now. it's just sensible.
