I grew up in Flagstaff -- lived there for 21 years -- and this is the most accurate article I've ever seen on the town, anywhere. smiley - ok

I'm thinking of writing a Guide entry on where to find good Mexican food in Flagstaff. Unfortunately, I can't find any myself. Any tips?

Yes.

I just recently found Las Gorditas on West St (near Coconino High School). The #1 ("mexican combo"....) which is sort of like fajitas is *really* good. And the beans and rice are pretty fresh (unlike some places where it seems like the rice has just been scraped off of last week's pan). And for decent, I like El Charro (S San Francisco St...S of Butler Ave). That's a local place that's been here forever. Not spectacular, but decent and fast. And then, there's the fish tacos at Salsa Brava. So far, they're my favorite for fish tacos! (but then, maybe that's the margarita gigante speaking...) smiley - smiley Oh. Then there's La Fonda's. But, they're always too packed, so, I haven't been there in awhile. And I seem to remember the last time I went it wasn't spectacular either, but another one of those "local long-time Flag" things. smiley - smiley
