must say, i love the idea of penny rugby, i, a devoted rugby player/supporter have never heard of it before, although, i used to play a variation with my brother, 'penny football' its basically the same, the whole triangular thing going on and stuff, but minus the conversion, (which i must say i dont really get, care to explain it again in laymans terms please...) and the 'goal' was made with the hand, (hold it up, then make ;horns' by tucking your two middle fingers into the palm, secure them with the thumb, and then put your and horizontal, pushing it onto the edge of the table)it was otherwise identical, one point per goal. The best game we ever had was on a ferry, the table was round, with a rim, so the pennys didnt do flying everywhere.

I've come to realise that what I call table football is actually a confused hybrid of table rugby and football. That would explain why we've never been able to agree on what to call it.

I'm a believer in the one coin variation. The whole three coin/triangular thing is totally alien to me, but I'll try it soon. Regarding point scoring: one point only. No points on my table if you don't convert!
The one-handed catch is sadly not as popular as it once was. Cupping with two is standard and wayward flips can even be caught against the chest. Preposterous! As for prefered coinage (UK): the 2p is a good allrounder (tricky on beer spillages though),10p is a too lightweight, the obsolete 50p is huge, gives good close edge control and can take out the eye of most opposition.

Oh where were you when we wrote this? This is excellent copy and would've been cut paste included and credited!

Are you unfamiliar with the rules? if u are still unsure, i can send u an e-mail / message thing on it if you want, its great getting new people interested in the game, people say that its second only to football, but if you ask me, its second only to tiddleywinks and thats on a good day, (football mis not my ideal sport as you might have gathered)
