A Conversation for Inukshuk

The stone memorial

I was touched in my heart at this gesture. It would seem for me very profound. I do not know why since I am of a different lineage.
All of my sons have been in sevice of the armed forces of US. I am proud they have kept a warrior tradition. But I also have been next to myself in worry when they went to Afgan people and in Iraque. Only one remains in service now so I have much less fear for them.

thanks for the thoughts, John. Most Canadians are, as you put it, of a different lineage from the original makers of inuksuit. But part of what it means to be Canadian for most of us is that our individual heritages are for sharing. In my neighborhood there is an eight foot inukshuk on a street corner across from a continental European restaurant: they both represent Canadian culture. As I tried to express in the entry, nothing could be a better tribute to Canadian war dead than a Canadian Inuksuk.

Thanks again, John, and a hope with all my heart that your son, and all the soldiers, come home safely.smiley - hug
