Survival Strategy
Tulips don't do very well in the Post Office gardens. The reason? White-tailed deer. Those pests think our yard is a salad bar. They find tulips particularly tasty. It makes us sad to plant the bulbs.
But this year, we lucked up with a couple of yellow ones that hid among the daffodils. As you can tell from the Post's photos the last few weeks, the deer don't like native daffodils. Oh, no: they prefer exotic cuisine. Or else the native plants have had enough time to evolve into bad-tasting morsels.
So here they are, the camouflaged tulips. From now on, we're planting them with the daffs.
