Comic Historian: The Annotated Buster Brown

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Although it's hard to get a good second-hand cavalry sabre these days.

Buster Brown takes a sword to bed to protect his home against burglars. Burglars break in. Tige the dog bites the burglar, who runs away. Dad shows up with two pistols and shoots at them while Mom looks proud.

Tige is a philosopher and by far the most intellectual member of the cast here. This is the last panel of the comic.

Mary Jane laughs because Buster isn't up yet. Tige takes a paintbrush and writes a long dissertation on sleep on the wall.
