Eclipse Dancing
Everybody's got an eclipse story. The dancers in the photo are from the Kwakiutl people of British Columbia. There's an ancient story that when there's a lunar eclipse, a supernatural creature has swallowed the moon. To get it back, you do a dance around a fire. It makes the creature sneeze and cough up the moon. We call this a public service, also beautiful.
