What to Play in a Power Failure
All week. They've been at the sewers and storm drains all week. Relentless noise. Mind you, watching the big machines go by can be entertaining. The backhoe, like a giant claw machine. The sideways dump truck. The little thing on caterpillar treads that runs back and forth like a hyperactive baby dinosaur. But this isn't getting anything done for the Post. Turn away from the rainy window and edit.
What tore it was that the backhoe operator ran into the pole outside. Suddenly, no electricity.
- No lights.
- No landline.
- No internet, and hence, no Post. No reading the book I'd borrowed from the Open Library, either, since the router was down.
- No coffee machine, though the gas stove worked.
- No organ, no electronic keyboard.
Hey, wait. The piano doesn't need to be plugged in! Wonder if Mozart appreciated the advantages of that?
The camera has its own battery, so I made a video with the retro instrument. I hope you like it.
