The obvious situation where this can be helpful is in the case of someone lost in the wilderness. Another, less dire but still very helpful situation is when two parties wish to meet up in a large public venue. I can imagine someone trying to find their friends at a large open concert or festival. Also locating a friend's caravan in campground. At the mall, "Where exactly are you?" "In front of the Teavana store." "I don't know where the Teavana store is!." Bam!
