Halfway There
Heavy traffic. Wednesday night. Morning really - Thursday snook in Two hours ago over another coffee. Discount the day. Confusing To go to bed and wake up And it hasn't changed. Day-behind jet-lag feeling Will last 'til Friday, that's really Saturday For you at least. Body clock ticks backwards. Concert goers going home A stream of lights that break the night. Happy faces, shouting loud and hoarse Rock concert hangovers tomorrow That's already your today. Traffic slows. The light stream falters. 'Halfway there' fading along with The fumes of fuel and midlife crisis. Sunrise clouds brighten Lunch, for me at least. Camera clicks loud in my quiet world. Living on a Prayer stuck in my head, Body clock providing the backwards beat. Countdown to bed as the world wakes up. |
