h2g2 Post Superchallenge: Imaginary Orienteering
Does that map look familiar? It shouldn't. If it does, check your meds. It's one of countless imaginary landscapes generated by the Uncharted Atlas program of a UK genius glaciologist named Martin O'Leary. His computer bot on Twitter (@unchartedatlas) generates a whole new land every hour! How's that for planetary engineering?
I tweeted Martin, 'Is it okay if h2g2.com writers make up scifi or fantasy stories using your maps?' He replied, 'Sure!' So we have permission. Get busy! Either use this map, or find another on Twitter. Others are available at the Atlas Obscura site. Pick a map, and write a story or poem about it. Explore your far country: will it be a journey into the Heart of Darkness, or a Magical Mystery Tour?
We expect great things in the Post mailbox! Don your pith helmets and get busy! (And yes, these count for the May Create Challenge).
