A Conversation for The Mars/Barsoom Books of Edgar Rice Burroughs
The Disney Film, The Elephant in the Room

Firstly, great entry!
I'd never heard the name of Edgar Rice Burroughs (and I read a lot!) until the father-in-law gave me his copy of John Carter, the recent Disney film. He absolutely hated it, and knowing his tastes I can see why. But I loved it, in the same sort of way I love Flash Gordon and other completely daft sci-fi movies.
It's not one I'm likely to watch often, but it did bring the author to my attention, and I am definitely going to seek out his other Barsoom books, especially after reading this!

Everyone told me the film was terrible, but since I hadn't seen it, I didn't want to judge it, so I just didn't mention it. The Entry is about the books.
I'll consider buying it on DVD, as it shouldn't be too expensive.

Oh yes, the entry's about the books and doesn't need the film in it at all really. I just mention it as it's what brought the books to my attention.
And everyone told me it was terrible too, but I kinda enjoyed it
