In 2010 I started a diary on my computer. I am not good at diaries as they usually peter out by March. As did this one, but it kickstarted again in June and then intermittently got updated until 2012 from which date it has been added to everyday.
Meanwhile, I looked at the gaps and realised that I could insert anything I liked. I renamed it 'Scrapbook' and it now contains masses of entries. I haven't caught up yet but within the next two years (Bob willing) I will fill all the empty spaces with entries that one day will become a best seller and provide my descendants with a decent income and the occasional invitation to a Hollywood blockbuster premiere.

Still married after 40 years. Now and then run across yet another "blank book" of the S.O. with the usual few pages written... a wide variety of different tacs. They never have truly anything worth careful preservation. The S.O. shrugs... could care less, now, about those old things.
I only keep a baby "blank book" for a shirt pocket to jot down thoughts or facts I think I want to be able to recall 6 months from when its written. The little booklets fill, the go on the desk until I'm convinced that I've put Xs on everything in there that is no longer valuable.
Like you, I transfer the remaining information approximately monthly to one of several computer files. Much easier to find things, or review things.
This scheme saddles me with much less weight and bother than phones or pads (electronic).
PS. Those monthly xfers are my demand that info backup be done.
