Especially by filmmakers.
This reminds me of my biology prof. He was a plant physiologist who used to live in California.
One day in the 1960s, a film crew buttonholed him. They wanted to film his lichen collection. They planned to blow p the images and make a horror film.
He let them try for several days. They gave up on being able to make lichens scary...
