You're not alone on that.
Pliny is completely inadequate as a compositional tool, usually loses any copy committed to it if in runs to as much as a page or so, or if one attempts to preview.
Its frightening off many new prospects from h2g2 on account of its' dysfunctions.

Problems acknowledged - at least by this Post Editor. But improvements will come.
For right now: could I suggest that since you know how to get to Ripley, put your text in with that - and then enjoy the 'new look' in Pliny?
