A Conversation for How to Cook With a Campfire
Lighting a fire in the rain

Someone from the coast of British Columbia showed me this - and it sure works.
If the wood is damp, build your fire anyway. Once you get the paper and small bits of wood(kindling) burning, start putting on larger wood, and put a pine branch over the top. When the pine needles start to burn, they'll be just like adding gasoline. It quickly dries out the damp wood, and you have the only fire in the campground that isn't putting up a huge plume of smoke!
