Apologies for pedantry (your article is very enjoyable!) but the word 'laine' is unrelated to 'lanes' being a word from the pretty much forgotten Sussex dialect and means "tract of land"... aaaand in this case it is used in its singular form. So it's just 'North Laine' for the entire area.
