One of my vegetarian friends claims that it wouldn't be Christmas without a nut roast (although a home-made one, not a packet monstrosity).
I suppose in that way, it's like meat-eaters with turkey. Yeah, it's dry, tasteless and you'd never dream of eating it any other month of the year, but you need to suffer through it on December 25th for the sake of tradition.

Either you have never met a decent cook, or a decent turkey. There ort to be loads of flavours ...
A nut roast sounds quite novel and tasty.

I have to admit my objection to nut roast comes to it being a prepacked ready meal, not a nut roast as such.

My brother-in-law wanted to buy some tofu and put it in the same marinade we're using for the roast beef, but I'd rather not feel obligated to eat it when we've already got homemade egg noodles and red cabbage
