What a beautiful tree! I especially liked the photo on the web where it was blooming near a Jacaranda. We've got Australian flora all over LA, I wonder why I've never seen this tree before.
I noticed in almost all web-based pictures that the first branches on most trees start quite high up. Is this a natural habit of the tree, or do folk trim the tree so that it looks like that?

I don't think anyone trims the trees as such, it must be a characteristic of Australian flora.
