A Conversation for 'Somewhere In Time' - the Film

The Grand Hotel in the film is "The Grand Hotel" on Mackinac Island, Michigan. A beautiful island between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron where modern motorized conveyences are forbidden and horses are the mode of transportation. The crown jewel of the island is "The Grand Hotel" with the longest porch in the world.
A beautiful setting for a wonderful film. (and one of my favorites)
Thanks for the stirring write up, GBabe!

Yes, I know.
I checked out the site link before I included it.
I even got it specially passed by the BBC because it was classed as a commercial site at first, but I argued that the link was an essential part of the write-up, in case people reading it don't know about the special weekends the Hotel have to commemorate the film.
I won.

here's a link showing the hotel where the film was shot.

so if the link says Michigan, why does the article say New Jersey
and how long was this in Peer review. I never saw it there.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A717059 That's my original article. The Peer Review thread is hanging off that: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/F86429?thread=211773&latest=1 I entered it in PR on 22/9/02 and it was picked "4 weeks ago" so it was in PR quite some time. You've been to the Hotel?

Actually it is a bit out of my price range. I was staying at a cheaper hotel on the Island. I did walk on it's porch though.

Their grounds are really quite small and there were other places like
main street (layed out as it was before the introduction of the
automobile) that I found more interesting. To this day there are no
automobiles allowed on the island.
Key: Complain about this post
