The game is interesting and a wee bit addictive. I really like how it has mismatched sides with different objectives. That is quite unusual in any game, I think. It would be like doubles tennis except one side has about eight players and the other has only two; and one side has to score points in the normal way but the other has to win by doing something completely different like hitting the ball boys on the nose or something.

One point on the explanation. The Welsh word for the game that I know is Gwyddbwyll which translates into English as Wood wisdom or wood cunning.
The way I play it, two pieces cannot occupy the same square, you can't move to a space directly in between two of the opposing payers pieces and the king cannot participate in a take (otherwise the king's side invariably wins).
I also play Latrunculi (aka Ludus Latrunculorum) of which I may post later.
