I first met them in Stoke on Trent in 1979 -- and mentioned them in a letter home to my father-- a Stoke-born pom.
For the first time that year I got a reply -- with drool stains .
It seemed that the nostalgia for them had stimulated his salivary glands . ( He mentioned bacon fillings )
So-- checked the web for them -- got the recipe and have passed it down to my grandsons .
Nice to have the taste tradition continued !
